This vrata (fasting ritual) is dedicated to King Pandu and his sons – the Pandavas from the Mahabharata. It is celebrated on the Panchuka days of the holy Kartika month, especially on the Purnima (full moon) day.
The Osha involves narrating the Pandu Osha Katha, observing a day-long fast, preparing special offerings (prasad), and praying for the health, longevity, and prosperity of sons, husbands, and family members.
