Description
Shamba Dashami (ଶାମ୍ବ ଦଶମୀ) – A Unique Odia Ritual for the Health & Well-being of Children
🌞 Seek blessings of Lord Surya for your child’s protection from illness and long-lasting health 🙏
Shamba Dashami is a deeply rooted Odia festival observed by mothers for the well-being and protection of their children, especially from skin diseases and chronic health issues. Celebrated on the 10th day (Dashami) of the bright fortnight (Shukla Paksha) in the month of Pausha (usually in January), this vrata holds great spiritual and healing significance.
The festival commemorates the legend of Shamba, son of Lord Krishna, who was cured of leprosy by worshipping Surya Bhagwan (the Sun God). Women observe a strict day-long fast and offer special puja to Lord Surya at sunrise and sunset for the health, immunity, and longevity of their children.
